• The course provides an introduction to public policy, the process of policy-making and implementation and the integral role of politics in the process. It aims to develop an understanding of the policy environment - the context, challenges and constraints of decision-making in developing countries so that those who design, give advice and implement public policy may know how to navigate policy reform through the risks and opportunities of this environment. The course presents conceptual frameworks that view decision-makers in government as positive change agents who seek to solve social problems in a multiple stakeholder policy environment.
  • This course introduces the students to the basic concepts and vital elements of politics. In particular, it focuses on processes, roles, norms and structures that define domestic governance. The Philippine Government will be the focal point, although not exclusive, in trying to understand and examine these concepts in detail.
